Compact Firewire cable adapter, only 48mm (2 inches) long.

The adapter comprises a 6-pin female connector and a 4-pin male plug to convert an existing 6 pin cable connection into a 4 pin connection as required by most devices.

Please note that the 4-pin connection does not have the two power pins so it is not possible for Firewire devices to be powered in this way.

I-Pod Users Please Note
Device connections such as i-pods require a cable and not an adapter. However, if you already have the cable, this will be terminated with a 6-pin connection.
Some computers are fitted with a 4 pin Firewire port rather than the more usual 6 pin variety. Customers with a Sony Viao for example, will be unable to use the cable directly as the Viao has a 4-pin firewire port. In this circumstance this adapter is ideal for converting the standard i-pod cable into a 4-pin connection.
